                French dancer and choreographer. Architect 
                of the Imperial Russian Ballet. He choreographed more than 60 
                full length ballets including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and 
                The Nutcracker.

                Christian Johansson 1817 – 1903 
             
                Studied in Copenhagen with August 
                Bournonville. Began teaching in St. Pertersburg 1860 during 30 
                years at the Imperial school he adapted his Bournonville 
                technique to blend with the Russian style. Professor of the 
                class of perfection, ideal choreographer for male dancers. 
                Taught with his own pocket fiddle which he left to his 
             
                favourite pupil but Legat lost it in the  
             
                revolution.
